WHO WE ARE

Envisioned in 1995 and incorporated in 2002, the Heritage Trail Conservancy is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to preservation and management of the natural, scenic, historic and cultural resources associated with the Heritage Trail Greenway, in order to conserve and develop the parklands and to provide primitive

outdoor-recreation and educational opportunities for visitors.

WHAT WE DO

The Conservancy positively affects the Madison area, connecting the community to the past, nature and one another by:

  • Building, maintaining and promoting the Heritage Trail and Heritage Park.

  • Protecting, preserving and enhancing the rich ecological resources of the Heritage Trail greenway.

  • Preserving, rebuilding and promoting Madison’s significant historical transportation landmarks.

  • Establishing a system that promotes community wellness through programs and activities on the trail and parklands.

  • Providing work, community service, educational opportunities, and improving quality of life for our youth and for all who are seeking to advance themselves.
